It is very important that we have a happy and safe place to learn. In order to do that, I share a list of my expectations with my scientists. Then together as a class we create classroom community guidelines that we promise to follow to make sure that everyone has a happy and safe learning environment.

Here are a list of the things the 3rd grade scientists and engineers promised to do while in class:

• Treat the teacher, each other, the materials and the animals with respect

• Ask the three people at your table for help and then ask the teacher

• Do their best work at all times

• Behave with honesty, kindness and consideration

• Stay on task and complete their work 

• Think like a problem solver

• Respect people's personal space

• Treat others how they would like to be treated
