Evaluating our Designs!

With a first attempt under their belts it was time to take a closer look at what worked and what didn't. Our engineers put their "evaluating hats" on and dug a little deeper into what ideas helped develop a successful tower. Here is some of their feedback:

Successes:

* Communication is key when you are working with a partner. * Ripping marshmallows in half so that one side is sticky.

*Using the piece of paper as a base for the tower.

*Using the string to balance the tower if it is leaning.

* Heavier on the bottom of the tower and lighter on the top.

*Using a triangle base was better than a square base.

Difficulties:

* It doesn't matter how tall you make it if it's just going to fall down. You have to make it stable and that's hard.

* Spaghetti is fragile and hard to work with.

* You have to plan how to use your materials because Ms. Lohitsa won't give you extras.

* You only have 20 minutes and that isn't enough time.

*You can put the marshmallows on the top or your tower will be too heavy and tip over.

* Finding a base shape that can hold up the tower is hard.

* It is hard to compromise and combine ideas with someone else. I just wanted to do my idea.
