How do I make a lightbulb brighter?
Now that everyone has had a chance to build a basic circuit we took a closer look at how electric current works. I had students figure out how to make a lightbulb brighter using the following materials:
6 wires with alligator clips
2 batteries
2 battery holders
1 lightbulb
Some students felt that doubling the batteries would make the lightbulb brighter whereas others thought that having more pathways by increasing the wires would make the lightbulb brighter. They connected various combinations and then drew their models in their notebooks. At the end of class everyone decided that increasing the power source was the best way to increase the brightness of a lightbulb.
