Getting to know the EDP!
Today we took a look at the process we have been using to design our towers. It is called the Engineering Design Process also known as EDP. It has five major steps that engineers use when developing a solution to a major problem. This process is very much like a cycle because it can occur many times before the final product is produced. Take a look at the process below:
Our young engineers quickly determined that engineers find themselves repeatedly trying steps 3-5 in order to develop an optimal solution. They also learned that it is very likely that for them to have to ask several new question once they get the process started.
In order to better understand this process and learn about some other famous engineers, we took a look at this video clip. Check it out:
We will be using this process several times over the next few months. Soon, they will be expert engineers!
