Starting our unit on Forces and Motion!
This week we started our unit on forces and motion. Our young scientist shared with each other all they know about how and why things move. They identified predictable patterns of motion as well as what forces are used to slow objects down. Some of our students even shared what they know about friction, drag, lift and thrust! How amazing is that? We used an organizer called a KWL (what I KNOW, what I WANT to know and what I've LEARNED) to gather our thoughts and begin to plan what types of labs we will conduct over the next ten weeks here in class. Students were encouraged to write down everything they believe to be true. As we explore and experiment they will use their new data to support or refute their original ideas. By the end of the unit their lists may look entirely different and that is ok! It means they have learned! Take a peak at some of their ideas!
