Making an Observation!
Part of being an excellent scientist is making detailed observation using your five senses. It is important to help other people understand what you observe by including things you hear, see, smell, feel and taste (when applicable). In order to better understand how specific to be, our class redid our forces lab focusing on using our five sense to record specific observations. Students made a new data table in their notebooks to catalogue the path the car took, whether or not it lost control, what noises the wheels made, if it changed direction as well as the speed compared to other pushes. Students quickly observed just how much data could be collected during a lab. We now know that observations and data can be both quanitative (measured- numerical) or qualitative (descriptors).
